Search by company name or ticker and pick the exact match from the ranked results — no guessing which "Acme" you meant. From then on the app re-checks Finnhub's IPO calendar for that company and keeps its entry current as the story develops, from rumour to confirmed date to first day of trading.
Every company on the watchlist carries one of five states, so a glance at the list tells you where each one stands:
Finnhub's free key covers US listings. The app detects which tier your key has — US only, plus Asia, or plus Europe — and tells you, instead of silently returning nothing.
Where the calendar has no coverage, an optional AI search fills the gap. Choose Claude or OpenAI, and pick the model — from fast and cheap to most capable.
A daily reminder as the date approaches — set how far ahead it starts, up to 30 days, and the hour it arrives. On the day itself, it says so plainly.
Confirmed listing dates, expected windows, price per share and the exchange, shown as soon as each becomes available.
Keys live in the iOS Keychain and in AES-256-GCM encrypted storage on Android. Test buttons confirm each one works before you rely on it.
Every request goes from your device straight to Finnhub or your AI provider. We operate no servers in the path and never see your keys or your watchlist.
Codex IPO has no backend, so it uses your API keys rather than ours. A free Finnhub key covers US exchanges and takes a minute to create; paid Finnhub tiers extend it to Asian and European listings. The AI fallback is entirely optional — leave it unconfigured and the app simply relies on the calendar.
That arrangement is what keeps the app honest about cost and privacy: you can see every provider it talks to, you control the spend, and there is no middle tier collecting your watchlist on the way through.
No account, no analytics SDKs, no advertising frameworks, no tracking libraries. Your watchlist stays on the device. Your API keys are stored in the platform's secure store — the Keychain on iOS, encrypted preferences backed by the Android Keystore — and are sent only to the provider they belong to.
Notifications are scheduled locally by the operating system; no notification data leaves your phone.
